PLASTIC BOTTLE RECYCLING FACTS

4 plastic bottles = 1 cushion cover

6 plastic bottles = Filling for 1 cushion

10 plastic bottles = 1 pound of polyester fiber

1 ton (2000) lbs of plastic bottles recycled saves 3.8 barrels of oil.

1 million plastic bottles recycled saves 250 barrels of oil.

1 million plastic bottles recycled eliminates 180 metric tons of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere.

10% of all US oil consumed (2 million barrels per day) is used to make plastics.

Recycling plastic bottles takes 8 times less energy than to produce an equivalent amount of new ones.

ECO BELIEFS

There are many ways that we can help the enviroment. Just being organic is not the only answer. Reusing or recycling should be a major part of our eco living today. Some people would question how eco friendly anything made from plastics can be, but otherwise they would be landfill.

CUSHION COVER

The cushion cover is made from 100% recycled plastic bottle felt (Ecofi). It is stitched together with 100% cotton thread. (I did try to find either recycled or organic for this but failed in my mission. I did find one company who are in the process of testing and as soon as it is available I will be using it). The designs are needle felted onto the cushion cover so there is no extra glue or cotton used). Made in England.

INNER CUSHION

The filling is made from recycled plastic bottles with an organic cotton (Soil Association approved) outer. Made in England.

LABELS

The outer label is made from 100% recycled felt with the Hartfelt Design logo burnt in. The interior label is printed on cotton and Oeko-tex approved.

PACKAGING

All our cushions are sent out in recycled biodegradeable mailing bags. I made the conscious decision to not have any extra packaging as there was no practical us for it.
